Getting there:

The property is about 2 hours by car from either Florence or Rome by Autostrade. By car: exit the autostrade at Chiusi Chianciano, then to Sarteano with full shopping facilities, then 10 kilometres to the house on a paved road. There is hourly train service to Chiusi with rapid trains from Rome, Florence and Milan. Air service is via Rome, Florence or Perugia.

About Casa del Pittore:

The house was built in the late 1800s. Restoration of the house started in 2000 and was completed in 2001. The pool was added in 2002.

There are of two floors. The ground floor has a fully furnished kitchen, dining room, and a spacious living room with fireplace. There is also a bath with shower and toilet and a laundry room. Out the doors of the dining room and kitchen is a long shaded terrace for summer dining.

The upper floor has three bedrooms, three baths and a studio with a single bed. There is a small refrigerator and hotplate upstairs as well. The master bedroom with king size bed has an ensuite bath with Jacuzzi bathtub and a large stall shower, hanging closet, walk in closet and a fireplace. The larger of the two guest bedrooms is furnished with a king size bed, armoire and writing desk. The bath has a tub and shower. The other guest room has three built in closets and a French or double bed. All rooms have windows with views over the valley, the woods or of the fields and the pool.

Satellite TV in the living room and master bedroom furnishes BBC World for news in English and all Italian channels. There is a multi-zone DVD player that plays US and European DVD movies

Surroundings:

There are 30 acres of land around, much of which is wooded with paths and the rest being tended fields. There is a vegetable garden with fresh basil, rosemary, lettuce and tomatoes depending the month. The pool is 35 feet long and 20 wide. The average temperature of the pool in summer is 78 degrees. All furnishings are carefully picked reflecting the taste of one of the owners who has designed many houses in Italy in addition to designing for the stage and opera.

Casa del Pittore is available for a week or longer rental which includes 2 hours of maid service daily.
